Troubleshooting: Error 50001 – Low UDP Throughput
Technical Breakdown
| Code | 50001 |
| Type | Error |
| Category | Throughput |
| Message | It seems like your network can’t handle UDP traffic too well, and this will cause sporadic degradation. |
What is this about?
This test specifically measures how well your network handles UDP Throughput. Unlike standard speed tests that measure your ability to download large files or stream recorded video, this test focuses on the network’s ability to maintain a steady, low-latency stream required for live conversations.
When we detect that your network is unstable during these low-latency interactions, we flag it as an error because it indicates that your connection may struggle to keep up with a live medical exam.
Potential Risks
Low throughput directly degrades media quality. It can cause intermittent connection failures, but most commonly, it results in fluctuating video quality and audio dropouts. During a meeting, the session may become unstable or completely unusable at random intervals.
Suggested Actions to Take
- Identify Local Congestion: Check if other applications are competing for bandwidth. Online gaming, 4K streaming (Netflix/YouTube), or large file downloads on the same network can “choke” the UDP stream.
- Verify Signal Quality: If you are on Wi-Fi, poor throughput is often a symptom of weak signal strength. Move closer to your router or switch to a wired Ethernet connection to stabilize the throughput.
- Corporate Throttling: If you are on an office network that is otherwise fast, your IT department may be throttling UDP traffic due to internal security policies. Contact your network administrator to ensure TytoCare traffic is prioritized.
