Troubleshooting: Warning 30003, 30004, or 30006 – VPN Connection Detected
Technical Breakdown

| Type | Warning |
| Category | Network |
| Message | You are connected via VPN. This may affect call quality. Make sure it is your intention and that the VPN is configured properly. |
What is this about?
The system has detected that your connection is being routed through a Virtual Private Network (VPN). A VPN creates a secure “tunnel” for your data, but this often adds extra steps to the journey your data takes to reach the TytoCare servers.
Whether used for personal privacy or corporate security, VPNs frequently cause a degrading effect on real-time traffic like WebRTC video and voice calls.
Potential Risks
VPNs can prevent sessions from connecting entirely or cause significant latency (lag). Because your traffic is encrypted and often rerouted to a distant VPN server before reaching us, you may experience robotic audio or pixelated video.
Suggested Actions to Take
- Personal VPN: Consider disabling your VPN during TytoCare visits. If you must use it, check your settings for “Split Tunneling”—this allows TytoCare traffic to bypass the VPN for better speed.
- Corporate VPN: If you are using a work-issued device, contact your IT administrator. They may need to optimize the VPN configuration or whitelist TytoCare domains to ensure clinical sessions aren’t throttled.
- Test Without VPN: Try running the network test again with the VPN turned off. If the score improves significantly, the VPN is the primary bottleneck.
