Troubleshooting: Warning 60002 & 60003 – Virtual Desktop (VDI) Detected

Technical Breakdown

Code 60002 and 60003
Type Warning
Category Peripherals / Environment
Message It seems like you are using a virtual desktop (VDI). Our test is likely checking the connection to the cloud machine and not to your physical machine.

What is this about?

VDI stands for Virtual Desktop Interface. It is a technology where your desktop environment is hosted on a remote server in a data center or cloud, rather than on your local computer’s hard drive. You are likely using software like Citrix, VMware, or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop to access your work environment.

Potential Risks

When running a network test inside a VDI session, the results measure the connection between the VDI server and the TytoCare media servers. It does not accurately measure the connection between your physical device and the VDI server.

  • Hidden Latency: You might see a “perfect” score in the test, but still experience lag because the connection to your local house or office Wi-Fi is poor.
  • Peripheral Passthrough: Virtual desktops often struggle with “passing through” specialized audio or video hardware, which can degrade stethoscope or camera quality.

Suggested Actions to Take

  • Test Outside VDI: If possible, minimize your VDI window and run the qualityRTC test in a browser directly on your physical laptop/PC. This provides a true measurement of your local network quality.
  • Use Local Browser for Visits: For the best results during a TytoCare visit, use a browser installed locally on your machine rather than through the virtual desktop.
  • Contact IT: If your organization requires VDI for all tasks, contact your IT administrator to ensure Real-Time Optimization (like Citrix HDX or VMware RTAV) is enabled for video conferencing.
