Technique for Lung Auscultation
- Patient Instructions: Ask the patient to take deep breaths in and out through their mouth. This helps provide clearer respiratory sounds than breathing through the nose.
- Placement: Follow standard clinical protocols by checking both the front (anterior) and back (posterior) of the chest. Ensure you compare the left and right sides at the same level.
- Contact: Place the stethoscope diaphragm firmly against the skin. Avoid placing it over thick clothing or bone (like the shoulder blades) to prevent muffled or distorted audio.
- Duration: Hold the device in place for at least one full breath cycle (inhale and exhale) at each location to ensure a complete recording.
Pro Tip: Use the "Lung" filter setting within the TytoApp to minimize low-frequency heart sounds and focus specifically on higher-frequency breath sounds.
